What Causes Chronic Lower Back Pain Radiating To The Legs?
I stand for 40 hours a week on concrete floors. I am 59 years old and I have pain going down my legs from my lower back and I have difficulty doing my job at work. I enjoyed walking every since I was a child and now I can not enjoy walking. the back of my knees and my calf hurts so bad and rest and pain medication does not help. my knees hurt so bad!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have chronic lower back pain radiating to the legs. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like wrong posture , injury , vitamin B12 or E deficiency , nerve compression , disc problem or sciatcia . Herinated disc or compressed fracture can also cause such symptoms . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI or physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , vitamin supplement along with physical therapy and stretching exercises . For now do not do exercises , take complete rest and apply warm compresses to leg . Doctor may also recommend surgery in severe disc problem . For now take proper rest and keep your leg in hot water tub with epsom salt for 15 minutes and apply warm compresses to back . Hope your concern has been resolved.
