What Causes Chronic Headache And Weight Gain After Taking Cerazette?

I have been on cerazette for 3 years to control endometriosis. I am 49. Apart from headaches now and again and some weight gain all has been well on this pill and after the first few months I settled nicely into pretty much having no periods. Recently though (over the last few days) I seem to have period pains and my stomach and tummy feel hard, achy, heavy and bloated , also the timing of my daily bowel movements that are always so regular have changed over past few days. I have no bleeding. I took one of my pills 12 hours late the other day. Could this be the reason? I ve been panicking that my fibroids or endo is back!

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

It's a hormone that is similar to natural progesterone. Basically it is the mechanism of premenstrual syndrome. (fluid retention, mood changes).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
