What Causes Chronic Body Pain?

I have had chronic pain for at least 15 years. I take hydrocodene and soma for the pain. I am also on several other meds for more than one condition and often , today, for instance the pain was very bad when I woke up at 5:00 AM. I took a hydrocodene and went back to bed for an hour. The pain subsided mostly but has been back now for at least five hours. I work with money so am very loathe to take meds while working. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The chronic pain that you are experiencing can be due to fibromyalgia, hypokalemia, fluid retention, dehydration, stress, lack of sleep, infections-viral/bacterial, neuralgia or addiction to certain drugs.

Visit the ER, get physically examined and get all investigations (CBC, Urinalysis, Thyroid function tests, RA, nerve function tests if required) done. Get treated.

Stay away from addictions if any. Take plenty of sleep, stay hydrated, take vitamin supplements. Sometimes, Hydrocodone intake also causes addiction, take Hydrocodone with caution.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
