What Causes Chronic Bleeding Of Ear With Severe Pain?
My 49 year old daughter s ear started bleeding while she was at work sitting at her desk. A co-worker noticed it. She s was seen by an ENT specialist who gave her a z-pac and packed her ear with an antibiotic ointment. She continues to bleed and went to the ENT 3 days in a row this past week. All totaled, this has been going on for 12 days now. She s experiencing a great deal of pain as well. What else can be done for her and do you have any idea what caused this bleeding in the first place. The Dr. said she had a perforated ear drum but when it happened, she has no idea as she felt no pain at the time. She s had some fever as well. She sneezed this afternoon and the ear started bleeding profusely again.
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Episodes of cold or sinus infection, can progress to ear drum through eusthacian tube ( tube connecting middle ear and nose), where ear drum swells, ruptures and discharges fluid mixed in blood and pus.
She requires regular aural toilet (cleaning), course of oral and ear antibiotics and analgesic.
Repeated bleeding is common with infection.
avoid self cleaning, plug ear with dry cotton swab from water per ear during bath, stop taking freezer products( curd/ ice creams).
Have regular follow up with your treating doctor, it takes time to resolve.
all the best, take care.
