What Causes Chronic Aches Throughout The Body , Weakness And Fatigue For 8 Years?

I have chronic aches throughout body, bouts of extreme weakness and fatigue and despite getting 8 hrs of sleep I wake up fatigued. I have periods of worse weakness and fatigue where it only improves if I lay flat. I exercise every day but my trunk is still weak. I have continued to suffer with this after a period 8 yrs ago where I was so weak that walking and talking were difficult.

Hi,

With a history of chronic fatiguability, a normal routine blood work should be done.

Along with hypothyroidism and other hormonal imbalances should be ruled out as well. Hormonal disturbances are a common cause of easy fatiguability.

Mental relaxation exercises like meditation and yoga should be done on a routine basis as they can help a lot.

Finally, if no abnormality is detected in tests and your fatigue persists, then you may need to visit to a physician to rule out chronic fatigue syndrome.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ajay Panwar, Neurologist
