i have been having chest pains when i wake up that go away after taking percocet. i am concerned i may be having a heart attack. i am a 44 year old male and i smoke.

Well come to HCM
This is not the symptom of heart attack but this could be muscular pain and such pain mostly happens due to hyperacidity, and to get rid of this you can try Tab Omeprazole once in day no need to worry about this, take care.
