Hi,

Chest pain and leg swelling are common symptoms of hypertension, as high blood pressure can damage the blood vessels in your heart and legs. However, it is essential to rule out other possible causes of your symptoms, such as heart disease or kidney problems, as these conditions can also cause similar symptoms.

Your weight and age may also contribute to your hypertension and related symptoms. Being overweight or obese can increase your blood pressure and put extra strain on your heart and blood vessels.

It is good that you are seeing a heart specialist, as they will be able to perform further tests and evaluations to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. They may also adjust your medications to better control your blood pressure and alleviate your symptoms.

In the meantime, it is essential to follow a healthy lifestyle to manage your blood pressure, such as maintaining a healthy weight, following a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
