Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m having chest tightness, cough intermittently, and dull chest pain not sharp or anything like that. My grandfather died at 50 with lung cancer and my father died at 80 with lung cancer. My grandfather was heavy smoker and my father was heavy smoker up until about 74 years when he had to have triple bypass surgery.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You have not mentioned whether you smoke or not and if you do then you should quit immediately. Chest tightness along with a cough may be due to upper respiratory tract infection . You may need to take an antibiotic course for the same. I would advise you to get yourself checked by a physician. He will auscaltate your chest and may also advise you to get a chest x-ray. It is also advised that you get an ECG done to rule out any cardiac condition.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
