What Causes Chest Pain After Eating With A History Of Hiatal Hernia Surgery?

I had nissen fundo & a massive hiatal hernia repaired 2 weeks ago. Now every time I eat I have a very deep intense pain from my chest that works its way up to the left shoulder and neck ,but when its really bad moves to my temple and mimicks a migraine. Keep in mind this is only on the left side and the pain is absolutely unbearable. It lasts from 2 hrs to 5 hrs. I have noticed it after I eat and am only able to eat about a 1/2 cup or less of anything. Is this due to the fundo surgery?

Hello,

Up to 30% of patients with post-surgery there is recurrence of the symptoms like dysphagia and pain during swallowing et cetera.

But long term 95% of patients may get symptoms free. Please consult your treating doctor for re-examination of for stenosis et cetera.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
