Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chest Pain After Eating When Suffering From Costochondritis?
Hi, I'm 35 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with costochondritis just localised to beneath my left breast. It's very painful. I have also acid reflux and possible hiatus hernia. However, when I eat I immediately feel the costo pain and wondering if food passing into my stomach could expand the ribs to make this condition worse?
I really appreciate your concern. Acid reflux symptom is pretty common in third trimester and it can be best avoided by eating little less. Meals can be divided in three parts, try to sleep in slant position in 45 degree angle at least for an hour, reduce intake of spicy food, oily food prior to bed, fruit salt, and antacid can be tried. It may not be hiatus hernia unless it is being clinically diagnosed. Be patient. It will be fine once you gave the birth to baby.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain Shaikh
