What Causes Chest Congestion And Chronic Cough?
I am a 64 year old woman in good health. Caught a cold from our grandkids over Christmas. Last Saturday my chest felt like it had a lot of congestion that I was coughing up. Didn’t look at the color. When I cough it hurts the left side of my chest. Tonight I have a temp of 101 with chills. Should I go to the ER tonight or call my doc in the morning to make an appointment?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You might have caught lower respiratory tract infection.
If there is specifically pain on any side and you have wet cough that is sputum in your cough then you may have pneumonia.
Kindly mention do you have chills along with fever?
Check the color of the sputum.
Treatment: Tab. Augmenting , Tab. Rantac , Tab. Paracetamol trice daily(for fever)
Warm saline water gargle 4 times a day.
