Hi.
The infection in the urinary system causes inflammation of urethra. When the urine is being passed , it flows through this inflamed urethra to give the burning sensation.
The antibiotics would definitely help but a the urethra takes more time to heat, this sensation would persist for more days.
Remember - the urinary infection needs a course of antibiotics of minimum of 3 weeks. The patient should take plenty of oral fluids to dilute and flush the system. He can try syp Alkalinizer 2 teaspoons in a glass of water after meals to reduce the burning. And tablet Urispas ( if available) one tablet twice a day till burning is stopped ( this can turn urine red - do not worry and tell the patient)
I hope this will help him a lot.
Always remember- always go for the tests of urine routine and culture sensitivity before starting treatment.
(Secondly- if you too are suffering from UTI or white discharge, you should take a course of antibiotics. ) In case you are having the problem, otherwise not necessary.
