What Causes Burning Sensation On The Tongue And Upper Chest?

I have been to a ears nose and throat doctor, and had the scope in my throat , he said it was a burnt esophagus but I do t think so because he put me on medication and it is not working. I have a burning feeling in my tongue and in my right upper chest, with sometime sticky white saliva or mucus that i had to really work to get out of my throat, It is very frustrating. My tongue has something on it looks like a very little white , not really white maybe grey coating on my tongue but I can t tell if it is just the normal color of my tongue or not , it is a slightly different color than the tip of my tongue

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query . There can be many reason for burning sensation on the tongue and upper chest like fungal infection ,dry mouth ,vitamin deficiency or allergic reaction to some food. I would suggest you to consult dentist /oral pathologist for proper examination .Doctor may order blood test, saliva test or allergic test. Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux . For now rinse mouth with cold water several times a day ,start multivitamin supplement , keep your stress level low and take ibuprofen (if not allergic) or acetaminophen for pain and inflammation . Eat light and non spicy and eat small meals .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
