What Causes Burning Sensation On The Face And Arms After Steroid Injection?

I had a steroid and lidocaine injection for upper disc problem. This is my 10th injection in 3 years. Sine injection I have very bright red burning face cheeks and red burning left arm. I also have a feeling around left rib cage of extended stomach--very uncomfortable. Last night passed a lot of bright red blood with blood clots. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

If could be a number of thing. Red burning sensation could be sign of: infection, herpes zoster, or allergy. To be sure it will be of need to see the rash, and know where on your body you had the injection. If you mean you had blood in your stools, you will have to go to a doctor to get it checked. It can be a sign of many unserious things, but also serious conditions as cancer.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

As per your description, it can be an allergic response to the injection. Even if you had previous shots, certain brand and batches cause allergic reaction. You should seek immediate medical attention. Passing blood and blood clots may be unrelated to the injection and we have to think of other causes like hemorrhoids as well.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
