What Causes Burning Sensation On And Around My Nipples?

I just got home from a lake that I went to today and I ve noticed (even while i was swimming) that I have a burning sensation on and around my nipples. This hasn t ever happened until I went to the lake today. When I looked at them they are bright red, with bright red bumps surrounding the area. Even the lightest piece of clothing will irritate them and cause a lot of pain. Also, everything I ve read links this to breastfeeding. I do NOT breastfeed nor have a child. What would cause and help this?

hi,
thank you for putting your query on HCM.
as per your history, it can be irritant contact dermatitis or infection. no need to worry.
take a course of antibiotic like tab cefixime 200 mg bd for 5 days, tab acelcofenac or any other pain killer. apply a combination of corticosteroid and antibiotic over the area like betamethasone and gentamycin cream.
also, wear loose clothes, maintain hygien, avoid wearing bra for few days. if you dnt get relieved in 5 days, consult a dermatologist nearby.
