What Causes Burning Sensation In Vagina Post Usage Of Hair Removal Cream?

I used nair on my vagina not realizing I wasn t supposed to use it in that area. And now it burns when I pee and I tried washing the area a few times but it just burned a lot and I couldn t really apply any pressure to the area while I was washing it off. Should I be concerned? And what can I do to make the burning go away? I m only 17 and I don t really want to go to a doctor about this because it s embarrassing for me.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Having burning sensation after using hair removal cream is caused due to local reaction by the chemicals used in the cream.
Kindly wash the area with cool water and mild antiseptic like Savlon thrice daily.
Take tablet Ibuprofen orally after food to reduce inflammation. Also take tablet Levocetrizine once a day to reduce local irritation.
Apply Hydrocortisone cream twice daily. Wear loose fitting cotton undergarments till the symptoms subside.
Next time, take care while using such creams so that it will not come in contact with mucosa. You may have to change based on its composition if you are allergic to certain chemicals.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
