What Causes Burning Sensation In The Vaginal Area?

I have a burning sensation in the vaginal area. It is along the outside wall of my vagina. It kind of itches and will bleed slightly when I wipe. It is not caused by sexual activity, however, I did try Replens moisturizer and it seems ever since then, it has been irritated. Just concerned as it never seems to go away. My next dr. appt. is October 11. Do I need to go sooner?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your concerns.

The symptoms you have mentioned seems to be due to infection. Bacterial vaginosis is the one among them which causes burning sensation along with vaginal discharge. Make sure you are not having any discharge. If there is discharge then you need antibiotic treatment. Sometime due to dehydration also we can see dryness and burning sensation in that area. Hope you are having atleast 3 liters of water per day to avoid it. You can apply candid b ointment at that area to get some relief.
Hope this answers your query.

Regards,
Dr.Alekhya.
