What Causes Burning Sensation In The Vagina After Intercourse?

Hi, I am having a burning sensation in my vaginal area when I am having sexual intercourse. The first time the burn was from the outer part of my vigina I believe posterior fourchet. I assumed it was a cut. I put this thing my parents put on anything and everything like burns cuts, its name is ungüento veterinario de la tia. The burning feeling went away for about a week then when I tried to have sex again the burning feeling was back, so I put the ointment again. It went away. Time had passed and Iv had sexual intercourse and had no problem but now I'm having the same burn but this time in the inner part of my vaginal area. When ever my husband inserts his penis inside it burns.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms could be due to vaginal infection like bacterial vaginosis, and pelvic inflammatory disorder. I would suggest to consult gynecologist and undergo vaginal examination, vaginal swab tests and vaginal cell microscopy to confirm cause.

Following treatment will help you:

- Single dose treatment of azithromycin + fluconazole + tinidazole. Vaginal suppository of metronidazole and lactobacillus.

- Apply vagisil ointment. Wash vagina with warm salted water and then apply apple cidar vinegar.

- Avoid sex till you get better and after treatment you can use water based K-Y gel before intercourse.

- Maintain proper pelvic hygiene by using V vaginal plus wash. Treatment of partner is also advisable.

- Drink plenty of water and eat healthy diet.

Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
