HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Burning sensations can be due to neuropathy which refers to abnormal function of the nerves.

It can be temporary or permanent.

Causes include: (1) trauma to the nerves in the area or along their path , in this case, would be related to nerves from the neck or upper chest region

(2)diabetes

(3)vitamin b12 or folate deficiency

(4)liver or kidney disease

(5)side effect of medication

(6)smoking can also definitely contribute

(7)thyroid disease

(8)neurological conditions such as stroke or ms

(9)idiopathic- cause not known

(10)infections

(11)rarely some types of cancer

It is possible that it may be related to a cause such as vitamin deficiency or infection but if it continues, you would need to see your doctor for an assessment.

This would be the only way to effectively determine the cause.

Assessment would require history, examination of relevant areas and possibly blood tests as well.

Treatment would depend slightly on the cause found though there are certain meds that are used for nerve related pain.

I hope this helps
