What Causes Burning Sensation In Chest And Throat?
I am experiencing a very uncomfortable bout of what I believe to be heartburn, however, it hurts (burns) in my chest and throat. I have not eaten anything spicy and don t normally get heart burn when I eat spicy foods. what is causing this? I have taken tums and they haven t touched the symptoms at all. It also hurts to swallow, it feels as if there is something preventing fluids going down or any food for that matter. Please help!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of burning sensation in chest and throat which are pointing towards a condition known as gastroesophageal reflux disease which leads to release of oesophageal sphincter and causes excess acid production. Need not to worry. You should take meal in small and frequent intervals. You should exercise on daily basis. Avoid large intake of meals at a time. You should exercise on daily basis. Keep bed little higher on head side. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order blood test , oral biopsy , saliva measurement and allergy test to confirm the diagnosis. For now avoid carbonated drinks , spicy food , alcohol and acidic foods. Take combination of antibiotic along with anti-inflammatory drugs.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
