General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Dettol has Cloroxylenol and isopropyl alcohol which are strong disinfectants and antiseptics. It is because of these substances in Dettol it causes burning throat and abdomen after its accidental drinking. Actually immediate stomach wash is best in management. You should go in ER for urgent care. Oral and injectable antacids along with sips of cold milk would help.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
