What Causes Burning Pain In The Arm And Hands At Night?

I have extreme burning pain in my arm and hands at night when I am asleep.... It feels like when you hit your funny bone really hard, hands go numb and the burning hurts and wakes me up.... the next morning and for a few days I am unable to lift my arms up above my mid section? What could this be?
