What Causes Burning Chest Pain While On Laxatives?
I've been taking laxatives for over eleven years now, once or more times a week in doses anywhere from 3 to 80 at a time. I'm on the lower end of that now taking only 8 but everytime I take them I get such bad chest pains. It feels like acid reflux, so I take a tums and sometimes it helps but other times it still burns. Even when I don't take thepills if I lie down at night this burning chest pain comes over me and I have to sleep sitting up. What is wrong with me? I had an abnormal barium xray years ago but never followed up on any other tests.
In my opinion you should first consult gastroenterologist. Since you are having bad barium swallow report in the past and still you are having symptoms so you might suffer from GERD. And chronic laxative use may cause gastric trouble. Follow these simple steps for GERD. 1 . Avoid spicy and oily food. 2. Avoid heavy meals, Take frequent small meals. 3. Avoid stress and anxiety and keep calm. 4. Take good antacids like pantoprazole and rabeprazole with prokinetic agents like levosulperide. . 5. Go for walk after meals. . 6. Keep 2 - 3 pillows below your head in the bed. .
