What Causes Bruises From The Ankle To Knee After An Injury?

I had an injury to the side of my calf about a week ago. Since then it has begun to harden and I am having bruising from my ankle to my knee. It seems like it is starting to swell and harden in front of my shin. I was having very sharp, burning sensations early on before getting on Advil. Is this something that will pass or do I need to go in and get it looked at?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that there might be having moderate hematoma formation on the part leading to bruises, hardness on muscles and shin.
nothing to worry, gradually with regression of hematoma you will feel better.
Apply ice pack 2-3 times a day for few days.
Ok and take care.
