What Causes Brownish Discharge After Sex?
I'm 43. Healthy, and have never had an STI. However, I'm a bit concerned. After my last period, I experienced a watery gush from my vagina and after sex with my boyfriend, the sheets would be stained with a brownish discharge ( very embarrassing ) Also, at times the discharge had an awful smell ( like a faeces odour ) I'm a nurse and put myself on a course of oral Flagyl. I believe, this cleared up the problem. I'd like to know what the heck was it that I got? I think I may be getting that " gush " feeling back. I'm currenty menstruating at the moment. Please God, I don't want to go through that again. Thanks for your advice and time. Jo

If infection is detected, you can have a course of treatment and your sexual partner also tested and treated if needed. Prophylaxis helps to prevent future recurrences.
