What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge?

Hello, I have been on Mirena for 5 years. It is currently expired. I had my regular period up until 1/26/17. Instead of having a normal cycle. I passed a large amount of dark brown discharge and I had no cramps or even a warning. afterwards I spotted VERY lightly for 1-2 days. and Ive had nothing every since. I feel pregnant. HELP!! General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

After the expiry of Mirena, it takes time for cycles to become regular because of a sudden change in hormone levels.

Since your pregnant test has come negative I don't think there is anything to worry about.

But you should get a sonography done to rule out any other conditions.

Meanwhile if you don't want to conceive you should use an alternative method of contraception like barrier methods. I hope that answers your question.

If you have any further questions please feel free to write.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nazma.amman, General & Family Physician
