Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. I have gone through your query. Brown discharge is suggestive of old bleeding. This can also happen when there is insufficient hormone supply to the endometrium which in turn leads to inadequate vascular supply thereby causing breakthrough bleeding. I am sorry to say I do not think that you would be pregnant given the circumstances. HPT reads well when performed 3-7 days after the missed period. For an earlier and better clarification, you can get the estimate of the serum beta-hCG titres. A trans-vaginal sonogram done a week later can clarify the situation. Hope this helps.
