What Causes Brown Spots On Both Hands?

Hi, I am concerned because I woke up today and I have brown spots on my right hand and just a little bit on my left hand. It looks like a bad self-tan honestly, but I haven't messed with anything like that lately. They appeared overnight because I know I didn't have them yesterday. The only thing I can think of that is new in my everyday life is I recently started birth control. I am only 16. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concern.
If a patient like you would have came to my clinic, I would have asked a few more details like,
-are these marks itching? Is there any swelling?
-what is the size?
-how many lesions are there in total?

You have said that they are tan color.
You have also said that you have recently started birth control pills. Birth control pills are known to give rise to tan marks like lesions but they are mostly on face around nose and not on hands.

Is there any possibility of being allergic to something or having an insect bite?

Please let us know these details and we would be able to help you further.
Take care.
