Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Divakara's Response
HI Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.
Brown coloured vomitus is most commonly due to bleeding inside the stomach . Occasionally it could be due to undigested food but always Stomach bleeding should be considered first and ruled out as it can become fatal .
Bleeding in stomach can happen due to gastritis , Ulcers in stomach or gut , Liver problems or problem in blood clotting .
I advise you to take him to hospital and get an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy done . This will look into the problem and help in the diagnosis and treatment.
Till you reach hospital you can give him Antacid gel . Don't delay.
Hope this information was useful to you. Any clarifications feel free to ask .
Regards.
