I've been on Depo Provera for about 3 months, I have not stopped bleeding brown-red blood for these three months and there has been a foul smell coming from the vaginal area as well and I would like to know why this is happening and what i should do to make it stop.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,

Brown vaginal discharge can be due to the action of progesterone hormone in the contraceptive devices. For your fowl smell discharge please try following:
1. Use of hygiene wash containing Lactic acid during bath time
2. Use of probiotics
3. Vaginal tablets containing Clotrimazole and Clindamycin
If your symptoms don't subside, please get in touch with your treating gynecologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purushottam Neurgaonkar, OBGYN
