What Causes Bright Red Vaginal Bleeding After A Hysterectomy?

My wife had cervical cancer 10 years ago and ended up having a hysterectomy (she kept her ovaries). She just started experiencing vaginal bleeding yesterday and again today...most of which is bright red. We re obviously concerned. What could this be caused by?

This could be caused by infection, tumor or injury. She needs to see a doctor as soon as possible for a pelvic examination. Do not wait to see if it resolves. Help her get to a doctor today.
