What Causes Bright Red Color Menstrual Discharge After Treated For Breast Cancer?
I had breast cancer in 2012. During my mastectomy I received an oopharectomy as well. a year ago I experienced some dark discharge, the dr said it was prob nothing more than the lining of my uterus. Normal. They checked for polyps I had none. no more bleeding until today. I am bleeding fresh, bright red blood and clots, I have some cramping and I am bleeding enough to have to wear a pad! Should I be worried.
If you have undergone oophorectomy, you should not get menstrual bleeding. Since you had undergone mastectomy for cancer of breast, you have to be worried for cancer in the uterine cavity.
Please get your ultrasonography done. The uterine lining (endometrium) should not be more than 4 mm in thickness. If it is thicker, further investigations are mandatory. Hysteromicroscopy would be a good initial choice. Then if needed, biopsy of the endometrium may be taken for histopathological examination.
There is another possibility of bleeding occurring from the mouth of the uterus (cervix). Please get examined from the Gynaecologist for possibility of any cervical pathology.
Please report to your cancer specialist.
I hope you got the message.
