What Causes Bright Red Blood After A Bowel Movement?

After I have a bowel movement I see some bright red blood on the tissue paper when I wipe myself. It is not a lot of blood only a few spots. It does not happen ever time just once or twice a week. I have no pain or other symptoms. Is this possibly just a hemorrhoid? I had a colonoscopy last year and all was fine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I believe it can be haemorrhoids. You should do often cold baths. Also clean area gently. Try to avoid constipation using a fiber-rich diet and also drink lots of water and fluids.

Don't strain when you go to the bathroom. Also, avoid staying sit for too long. You can also find haemorrhoid cream OTC and use it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
