What Causes Breathlessness And Vein Spasms While On Metropolol?

I'm a 94 year old taking 50 mg of metropolol daily.
This drug used to lower my heart rate to 40bpm.
But lately my bpm is 70. I get a little out of
breath just walking to the bathroom and have
experienced some vein spams in my right hand and
once or twice in my legs. I've had a bypass and
valve replacement. My bp is 127/70. The heart
rate worries me.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Breathlessness and muscular spasms appear to be more due to anxiety.
2. This has caused increased heart rate despite being on treatment with metoprolol.
3. You need to relax and meditate. Anti-anxiety medications maybe necessary and you might need to meet your doctor.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
