What Causes Breathlessness Along With Rise In Heart Rate During Sleep?

I was sleeping and suddenly awakened because I could not breathe. I was unable to catch my breathe for about 5-10 seconds. When I did catch my breath, I started to throw up. My heart was beating very hard and fast. After a minute or two I was fine. But this was a scary experience.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to Health Care magic.
I understand your concern.
As per the complains you have given it seems to be a case of obstructive sleep apnea.
But other conditions like congestive cardiac failure can also cause these symptoms.
Also anxiety or paniac attack due due a bad dream could also trigger such episodes.
So would like to ask some queries like is there a both lower limb swelling which has increased recently. If yes you should undergo a test named 2 DECHo and follow up with cardiologist for opinion and further medications.
For sleep apnea-Sleep study is advised but opinion of general physician is required.
For anxiety just need some relaxation exercises like meditation.
Thanks and regards.
Take care.
