What Causes Breathing Difficulty While Suffering From Congestive Heart Failure?

My 89 year old mom suddenly has had a congestive heart failure. She was swimming a half mile 3days a week,up to a week ago. Suddenly in the last month she began retaining water and then trouble breathing. She is in a hospital as we speak. What might have caused this?

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned her breathing difficulty is due to left sided heart failure so please follow like this -

1)Do ECG, ECHO and chest x-ray and do a clinical examinations by your cardiologist and classify it from A-D. Treatment will be as per grade.

2)Discuss with your Doctor for [furosemide]which will help in breathing difficulty and add oxygen if required.

3)Do take other medications as well as take treatment for underlaying pathology if present.

Do take few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Do not smoke

2)Try to manage certain conditions, such as high blood pressure and diabetes

3)Staying physically active

4)Try to eat healthy foods

5)Try to maintain a healthy weight

6)Try to reduce and managing stress
