What Causes Breathing Difficulty And Severe Fatigue?

Occasionally have difficulty breathing, recently has become more frequent - may be mild or severe, may last few minutes or come and go over few hours - feel like even though can take deep breath, it s not enough. A small snack used to fix it, but not any more. Generally feel tired all the time and getting more tired recently. I am 44 year old male, taking lipitor 10mg for about 20 years and cholesterol under control.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The cause of your difficulty breathing and fatigue could be due to hypoglycemia(low sugars in blood). If you have energy after a small snack suggests the reason could be altered glucose levels in your body.
I would recommend you to undergo random blood glucose levels, fasting blood glucose and HbA1c. HbA1c levels gives you the average glucose levels over past 3 months.
Average fasting blood glucose for a normal person is
Average fasting blood glucose in a diabetic is 70 - 130
A1C (also called glycosylated hemoglobin A1c, HbA1c or glycohemoglobin A1c)      for a normal person is
HbA1c in a diabetic is >6.5%
