What Causes Breathing Difficulty And Chronic Cough?

hello...hard to breathe, feels like someone choking me especially when I lay down, coughing a lot--not like a cold-- dry coughing when can t breathe, sometimes so fast almost vomit, tight chest like someone or something constricting it, hard to breathe deep, sometimes it chokes off air to face and head especially if i m bending over, while talking I will lose breathe and have to stop, strong cough drops help me breath a bit, belly area bloat/tightness, and I feel a pain in the back/side of my head when I lay back on it, overall just feels like I am constricting around rib cage and struggling with breathing....been going on for awhile

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi,

I would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to a lung disorder.

A panic disorder cannot be excluded either.

Anyway, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some tests to investigate for the possible causes:
-a resting ECG and cardiac ultrasound
-a chest X-ray study and pulmonary function tests
-complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation
- an arterial blood gas analysis.

You should discuss with your doctor about the above tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
