What Causes Breast Tenderness?

Good evening, I have been having breast tenderness for about six months. I noticed that it starts under my arm and I do shave under my armpit but do not have any lumps or ingrown hair bumps or clogged follicles. I have not noticed any lumps in or around my breasts and regularly perform breast exams both in and out of the shower. I used to work in maternal/fetal medicine at EVMS in Norfolk, VA so I m very thorough with my examination. I had a hysterectomy some years ago and have one ovary left which is polycystic from time to time. I have a mammogram scheduled for Friday, but would like a little advice...sometimes the more medical knowledge can work against you when it pertains to your own body! Any suggestions?
