What Causes Breast Pain Upon Walking?

Today I fell while walking and I am experiencing breast pain in my left breast located on the side of the breast. It is very painful and hurts worse when I move. Should I be overly concerned or will time alleviate the pain? Also I am 70 years old and very grateful I did not break any bones.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to mastitis. Mastitis is an infection of the tissue of the breast. I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day. Antibiotics may be needed if the symptoms continue.

Heat compresses can also be helpful to reduce the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
