What Causes Boils In The Thighs And Abdomen After Taking Simvastatin?
I am a 44 yr old black male who has been taking simvastatin for a month now & have developed 3 boils. 2 on my inner right thigh & 1 on the lowest right part of my abdomen. I stopped taking the medicine as of last night, how long do you think the boils will continue to develop?? I am a very hygienic person & have never had a boil in my life
I am sorry to hear about the boils that you are suffering from.
Simvastatin is a cholesterol lowering drug and is commonly used in patients to reduce their cholesterol level. I can assure you it is in no way related to the boils that you are experiencing. So be assured and kindly don't stop taking the medication.
I'd advice you to get a blood sugar test done as recurrent boils/lesions is often a feature of Diabetes.
Apart from that, maintain the affected area dry and hygienic, eat health food, drink lots of water. You may take painkillers like Diclofenac to get relief from pain if you have any.
Hope this information helps. Feel free to ask if you have any doubt.
Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr. Sridhar Reddy
