Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband is 60 and in excellent health. He is a runner 10-15 miles a week and works full-time. He is almost NEVER sick, but today he had a sudden onset of chills with hard shaking, headache, and a fever of 101.3 when i checked it about 90 minutes ago. He took a couple of aspirin and rested - the fever came down to 100.3. He does not recall a tick bite or exposure to anyone that has been running a fever in the last few days. There are no respiratory symptoms.
The symptoms of your husband seem to be related to an infection. Fever is always related to an infection. I would recommend the following examination:
- A complete blood count.
- A urinalysis.
Meanwhile, he can take anti-inflammatory medication to treat fever such as Ibuprofen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
General & Family Physician
