What Causes Body Ache Along With Fever?

Hi! I am 53 years old. I have been having body aches and fever for the last five days. I suspected the flu since it is going around in my area. A little cough here and there but nothing that alarmed me until know, I just coughed up a string of yellow about 2 inches long and attached to it was some fresh red blood. What should I do?

Hello,
Welcom to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern. Symptoms of you suggest the upper respiratory tract infection.

Mostly viral infections are self healing and only management is symptomatic like, fever and generalized body aches can be managed by paracetamol.

As you said there was think sputum with blood associated it can also be bacterial where you need to take medication like levofloxicin.

In case your sputum change its color to green or rusty, you need to visit general physician as it can be pneumonia too.

Hope my answer will help you, in case of further query don't hesitate to write us further.

Regards
Dr Muzaffar
