What Causes Bloody Vomiting During Pregnancy?

I will be 24 weeks pregnant in 2 days. I was just lying down when i felt sick so i went to the toilet to throw up. At first it was just liquid than blood started coming out. Enough blood to make the water red. Than i stopped throwing up. Is this normal? I have a checkup tomorrow so should i wait till than or go to the emergency room now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there I have read through your question and understand your concern. Vomitting blood during pregnancy is not a good sign. The most common cause of hematemisis during pregnancy is rupture of esophageal lining due to forceful and repeated vommiting s. You should immediately consult your gynaecologist for further course of action.Other causes can be gastritis, hypertension, dehydration or cirrhosis. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
