What Causes Bloody Anal Discharge With Mucus And Loose Stools?

My son had a couple days of diarrhea last week followed by a day of nausea. No fever or vomiting. He s been fine since then. Just now he had to go to the bathroom and farted on his way there. He had wet, mucusy discharge in his underwear and had a loose BM with blood drops afterward in the toilet. UGH! What is going on here?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I'd like to tell you that you should wait for another episode. Motions mixed with blood may be due to bacillary dysentery but if frank blood comes out of anus afterwards, it may be haemorrhoids.

Please consult your doctor who will examine you physically and he or she may order some investigations to reach to a diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
