Hi I m having trouble having a poo, I ve never been like this before ever and for the last month its been very hard painful and its getting at me now, I went to doctors and told him what has been happening but e just gave me laxatives and sent me on my way, I struggle to go 90% of the time I ve had a lot of bloody/yellow/clear puss/mucus when trying to go also had some in my stools, pain in my lower back and stomach, mainly right hand side, went to a&e the other day and they said it looks like early signs of appendicitis and told me if pain gets a lot worse come straight back, pain went for a few days but very sore tender stomach and now pain in my back again,i doubt its appendicitis as I would be in crippling pain by now, also uriniating a lot more often than usual, when I push I feel as though there s a half sphere inside me near where my sigmoid colon is,I had a rectal exam and xray and blood tests but came up fine except doctor felt hard pieces of stool inside, had flu like symptoms for around 2weeks but doctor said it was just viral infection, I ve googled my symptoms and worries me even more with what it could be, I just need a little advice or help on what I can say to get a proper check up and find out what s wrong I have an okay diet I do sat a lot of fatty foods but also healthy foods too,its an decent balance ,I smoke but don t drink alcohol, I have a lot of pressure around eyes and behind nose and temples also feeling fatigued and down,I know its only a month and people live and have worse problems than this but I m 25 pretty healthy and this has came on all f a sudden

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

In most cases, causes of abdominal pain and bleeding through rectum are benign and include hemorrhoids, anal fissure or rectal polyps. These are primarily treated with stool softener, diet and sitzbaths.

If there is no improvement in next few weeks, then surgical management should be considered. Other causes may be more serious and include tumors or inflammatory bowel diseases and these should be ruled out with colonoscopy which must be done if there is low blood count present or rapid weight loss. Otherwise, you can see if conservative therapy will help and consult proctologist if necessary.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.

Kindly regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
