Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
This morning woke up and very red blood in urine. Went to ER and they tested it no infection in blood. Started taking Xralto a week ago. Was told to quit taking it, drink lots of water and see general practioner tomorrow. Still a large amount of blood in urine, I do have kidney stones per CAT scan taken a month ago. George
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Apart from infections, many other medical conditions may give you blood in urine(hematuria). In your case, there are 2 possibilities since infection has been excluded : -Xeralto is an anti-coagulant(blood thinner) and may be the cause of you symptoms. -With a past history of kidney stones, recurrence is possible even though other symptoms like pain may be present. This is not the case with you. -Other causes of hematuria like inherited disorders, cancers and strenuous exercise are less likely in your case. I will suggest you stop xeralto and see your prescribing Doctor for evaluation and the need for an alternative management to the reason for which he gave you the drug.Drink enough water. If the problem should persist, you will need to see your Doctor for a Kidney function test and a Kidney ultrasound. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
