When red blood cells appear in urine it is called hematuria. The microhematuria is defined by the presence of three or more red blood cells (RBCs) per high-powered field on microscopic examination. The origins of microhematuria are either urologic or nephrologic. The common urological cause are benign prostatic enlargement, infection
urinary calculi and
urinary tract cancer. Nephropathies and nephritis are the most common nephrogenic causes of hematuria. These causes need to be investigated. There are many causes of
asymptomatic hematuria that do not require a full diagnostic work-up such as vigorous exercise, presence of pre-existing medical
renal disease, presence of infection or viral illness, present or recent
menstruation, exposure to trauma, or recent urological procedures (e.g., catheterization). As you are doing vigorous exercise, I will adopt careful wait & watch method.
Advice
1. Stop exercise for 10 days
2. After 10 days, do investigations – R/E of random midstream urine sample, microscopic examination of the sediment of urine sample
3. For safety, I recommend you to get done an ultrasound of whole abdomen also
Thanks!!
