What Causes Blood In Urine While On Warfarin?

I am on Warfrin, and have noticed a small amout of blood in my urine in the past but it airways seemed to go away auite soon, in fact, have given a blood sample during a physical in recent past with no concern. I have been diagnosed with a hernia, which seems to bother only once in a while, and have been given the advice by a home visit nurse, that as long as it does not bother a lot, and can be pushed back in, it should be ok to be left untreated, especially since I am taking Warfrin for a mechanical mito valve. Recently I have noticed more blood in my urine, and it does not seem to be going away. Is this somthing i should be real concerened about, and can it be from the hernia, which I have had for at least 2 years?

Hello,

Common causes of hematuria are:-
1) Urinary tract infections.
2) Bladder stone.
3) Bladder or renal infection.
4) Injury.
5) On blood thinner medications like aspirin, warfarin.
5) After genitourinary surgeries.
You can take a tablet Pause after consultation. Stop warfarin temporarily after consultation. Check for PT, INR. Drink a lot of fluids. Keep yourself hydrated. Do ultrasound abdomen and pelvis to rule out other causes. Maintain proper hygiene. Treatment depends upon underlying conditions. I will suggest you follow up with a detailed history or consult with a urologist for a detailed examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
