A friend of mine is seeing blood while urinating, it s about 3 days now, sometimes the colour of the urine become dark red or something very light pink. And recently after a blood test of his, the haemoglobin drops to 8.5 and in urine test there were positive leukocytes like ++ found. And the rest of the results were normal like creatinine and LFT but protein were 5g in the test but no bacteria were found. So please tell what eaxtly is it.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Presence of leukocytes indicates infection.
2. Urine culture will be more useful than microscopy confirmation of bacteria. Get urine culture and sensitivity done to identify appropriate antibiotic for treatment.
3. Blood in urine, wont cause so much anemia. Your friend was already anemic. Get a complete hemogram and based on it, appropriate treatment can be started.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
